    Wedge joints are generally made of carbon cast steel whose material is not lower than ZG 35Ⅱ specified in GB979-67 (classification and technical conditions of carbon steel castings), and has been scientifically heat treated to obtain higher comprehensive strength and durability.
    According to Article 9.4.1.1.6 of GB/T 3811-2008 "Code for Design of Cranes", "When using wedge blocks and wedge sleeves to connect, the wedge sleeves should be made of steel, and the connection strength should not be less than 75% of the breaking force of the wire rope".
    Wedge joints are generally made of casting or integral forging, and are mainly composed of three parts: wedge sleeve, wedge core and horizontal pin. The surface should be smooth and flat, the sharp edges and risers should be removed, and there should be no defects that reduce the strength and obviously damage the appearance (such as pores, cracks, looseness, slag inclusion, sand inclusion, casting scars, etc.), and the wedge joints should be rust-proof deal with.
    Two samples of wedge joints of each nominal size must be taken for tensile testing before production. During the test, preload is performed first, and then gradually loaded to the breaking load. During the loading process, the length of the free end of the steel wire cannot be shortened. After the test, the wedge sleeve and wedge are not allowed to appear cracks or any other damage that affects the use.
    In batch production, the wedge joints of each nominal size must also be tested at the factory. The number of tests is 2% of the batch, and the absolute number is not less than 2. All test pieces must meet the requirements, then the batch of products If one of the products does not meet the requirements, the sampling test must be doubled. If the test does not meet the requirements, the batch of products is unqualified.
